EA-6B Prowler Squadrons Final Flight Together Before Retirement

Four EA-6B Prowlers belonging to each Prowler squadron aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point conducted a "Final Four" division flight aboard the air station Tuesday.

The "Final Four" flight is the last time the Prowler squadrons will be flying together before the official retirement of Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Training Squadron 1 at the end of Fiscal Year 2016 and the eventual transition to to newer electronic warfare technology which include unmanned aircraft, F-35's, ground based electronic warfare and new cyber technologies.

Lt. Col. Bill Schutz says the final flight "Was an opportunity to recognize the community. It's a very busy community. We've been involved in every conflict sine the Prowlers started flying in the late 1970's."

The pilots and crews of Prowler Squadron One, which is retiring first, will move over to support the other three squadrons for the next four years and then they will transition to newer electronic warfare technology.
