The day of the Russian army aviation is celebrated on October 28

On this day in 1948 the first Soviet helicopter squadron was formed in Moscow region's town of Serpukhov. Russian military helicopters are able to accomplish wide range of tasks from transporting heavy cargo and aerial combat to anti-tank and anti-submarine missions. Russian Mi-8 is used by over 50 countries and the latest Ka-52 helicopter is the only one which has a two-seat cockpit, so it can be flown by either pilot.
